Psychotherapy for adults seeking clarity and meaningful change.

Life is short. Let’s find what matters most.

I’m a Registered Social Worker with the Manitoba College of Social Workers and hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Manitoba. My approach is rooted in the belief that curiosity and connection are the medicine many of us have been missing. I invite people to discover the beliefs, habits and patterns that may be holding them back from living more fully.

My style is grounded in warmth, humour and collaboration. Together we work at a pace that balances safety, challenge and meaningful change. We can get curious about the patterns that keep you stuck, soften the parts that are quick to judge, and make space for the kind of change that actually lasts.

While we cannot control or prevent the inevitable pain(s) that come with being human, my role is to support people in reducing their suffering by changing how they relate to that pain, and most crucially, to themselves.

Finding the right fit

The right fit makes all the difference

Finding the right therapeutic fit is one of the most important factors in a safe, effective experience. This section gives you a clearer sense of what I’m well-suited to support, my style, and the areas where another provider may serve you better.

What therapy with me is like

I offer a down-to-earth approach to anxiety, trauma, grief and life transitions. With compassion, skill and a healthy dose of humour, I help people get to know the parts of themselves that feel stuck in fear, self-sabotage and avoidance.

Patterns are survival strategies that once kept us safe. We can appreciate this and recognise that those same templates get in the way now.

There’s no pressure to have it all figured out; my goal is to help you let go of what you don’t need to carry anymore so you can move through the world with more clarity, confidence and connection.

We cannot control or prevent the inevitable pain(s) that come with being human. My role is to support people in reducing their suffering by changing how they relate to that pain, and most crucially, to themselves.

Areas of special interest

Nervous system knowledge

A basic understanding of how our brains and bodies function to protect us from (real or perceived) threats normalizes our automatic reactions. But this knowledge alone doesn’t let us off the hook for our responses. When we balance healthy self-responsibility for our actions with practical, regulation strategies, we strengthen the muscle of emotional maturity.

Overfunctioners

I enjoy working with people who tend to overfunction by taking on more responsibility than is reasonably theirs. This can result in compulsive caretaking, chronic people-pleasing, quiet resentment, and eventually – burnout. Our work focuses on helping their nervous system experience holding two truths at the same time – caring about others and respecting their autonomy, being assertive and kind, holding healthy boundaries and strengthening relationships.

Family of origin wounds

For many of us, our earliest education about who we are and how we ‘should’ relate to others began in our family of origin and early environments. I encourage people to explore their patterns (aka survival strategies) – how they were first learned, what maintains or reinforces them now, and what small and manageable steps they can take to create healthier, sustainable boundaries

When another provider may be a better fit

No single therapist offers specialised care in every area. Being transparent about scope means you can access the most effective support. Concerns I would typically refer out include:

  • Therapy for children or youth. My practice is strictly for adults 18 and over.
  • Active substance dependence that would interfere with the therapeutic process.
  • Severe and persistent conditions such as schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders.
  • High-risk or acute safety concerns requiring immediate medical intervention.

Therapy tailored to you

An integrative approach, shaped around you

Rather than fitting you into one method, I draw thoughtfully from a range of evidence-based and relational approaches. Together we co-create a treatment plan and adjust as we go.

Without safety, there is no exploration. Without exploration, there is no discovery. Without discovery, there is no change.

A closer look

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their intensity. Using dual attention stimuli like guided eye movements, EMDR moves “stuck” memories toward resolution across eight phases, at a pace that feels safe to you.

1

History taking & treatment planning

We map your history and identify the experiences and goals we’ll focus on together.

2

Resourcing & preparation

You build coping tools and a felt sense of safety before any reprocessing begins.

3

Assessment

We pinpoint a target memory along with the beliefs, emotions and body sensations tied to it.

4

Desensitization

Using dual attention stimulation, the emotional charge of the memory gradually softens.

5

Installation

We strengthen a new, more adaptive belief about yourself in place of the old one.

6

Body scan

We check in with the body to notice and release any lingering tension or distress.

7

Closure

Every session ends with grounding, so you leave feeling settled and contained.

8

Re-evaluation

We revisit progress at the start of each session and adjust the path forward.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

I’m new to therapy. What’s the process like?

It’s completely normal to feel unsure about starting. Therapy is simply a dedicated space to slow down, get curious and make sense of what you’re carrying. There’s no script you need to follow, we move at your pace and you stay in the driver’s seat the whole way through.

How do I get started?

Reach out by phone, text or email to book a free 15-minute consult. This is a no-pressure conversation where you can share a little about what’s bringing you in, ask questions and get a feel for whether we’re a good fit before booking a first session.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. We’ll talk through what’s bringing you to therapy, a bit of your history and what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to, building trust comes first.

What if we’re not a good fit?

Fit matters enormously, and it’s something we’ll check in on openly. If I’m not the right person to support you, I’ll gladly help point you toward someone who may be a better match. Your wellbeing always comes before anything else.

What types of therapy do you offer?

I work integratively, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Feminist Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, always through a strengths-based, trauma-informed lens. We tailor the approach to you, not the other way around.

How will I know if therapy is working?

Progress isn’t always linear, but you might notice yourself responding to old triggers differently, speaking to yourself more kindly, or feeling more present in your relationships. We’ll regularly reflect together on what’s shifting and recalibrate your goals as you grow.

How long does therapy take?

There’s no one answer, it depends on your goals and what you’re working through. Some people come for a focused stretch around a specific concern; others value longer-term support. We’ll talk openly about what feels right for you and revisit it as we go.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule so the time can be offered to someone else. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to the full session fee. We’ll cover all of this before we begin.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share is private and protected. There are a few legal and ethical limits, such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others, and I’ll walk you through exactly what those are during our first session so you always know where you stand.

Are there clients you can’t support?

To practise ethically and within my scope, some concerns aren’t the right fit, including active crisis or acute risk requiring a higher level of care, active substance dependence as a primary concern, and clients located outside Manitoba. If your needs fall outside what I can safely offer, I’ll help connect you with more appropriate support.
